Digital Citizenship and Google Classroom

ICT Curriculum focal person from REC conducted a PD on Digital Citizenship and Google Classroom for teachers of Ura CS on 22nd of October. He highlighted on the healthy usage of ICT meaning without affecting others and self. He also presented on the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to the technology use. The digital citizenship is organized under the principles of respect, educate and protect (REPs). With the increase in technology in the hands of everyone, especially our students, teachers and parents are in the need of a new workout and new REPs. The principle of respect, educate and protect will help teachers and students discuss the issues and ideas that are happening with respect to technology.

Teachers were also oriented on the conduct of online classes through Google Classroom. Google class has numerous advantages curbing the problems of space, time and distance – we can learn from anywhere and anytime. Google Classroom makes easy for students and teachers to connect –inside and outside of schools. It saves time and paper, makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate, and stay organized. He also presented on the procedures to create online classes, sharing learning resources, creating, distributing and grading assignments and ways of providing feedback.
